Me and my travels
I don't see stuff when I'm in London because I'm so busy, so it seems crazy to go away and then see art or go to the theatre. I NEVER TRAVEL WITHOUT... DVDs and a laptop to play them. If you're travelling first-class life is easy, but even if you're not, the day flies by if you've got the right entertainment. I particularly enjoy American TV shows such as Deadwood, The Shield and The Wire MY TOP TRAVEL TIP IS... Take melatonin to combat jet lag. It really works. You can get it from any health food store, and as I travel to Los Angeles and Las Vegas quite often I'll take melatonin when I get back before going to bed. WHEN I'M TRAVELLING I ALWAYS MISS... Not much now, thanks to the joys of Sky Plus. Of course home is home and there's nothing like your own bed, but I really enjoy spending time on the road in Britain, whether it's in Brighton, Newcastle, Edinburgh or wherever.
The Watercooler
All because of Cowell's sordid affair... with himself. If only Life on a Stick had been this funny. 9:32 All-Star Medley! The Idols with their idols. This should be... scary? 9:33 Ahhh, Carrie and Rascal Flatts on "God Bless the Broken Road." So far, so good. May need to download that one. 9:35 Anthony, Anwar and Kenny G doing "I Believe I Can Fly"? No, they can't. Sorry, guys. 8:23 Constantine, Nadia, Jessica and Kenny Wayne Shephard tackle "Walk This Way" and instantly, that Britney-Aerosmith Super Bowl mess is forgiven. At least Nadia looks fab. 9:39 Gotta say it, Scott, Nikko and George Benson's "On Broadway" ain't too shabby. And yes, Scott can sing. Nikko's cooler, though. 9:41 With Vonzell and Billy Preston, I'm born again. It's weird that I wanna have her baby.
MAKE YOUR OWN SPICE COMBINATIONS THAT WORK
Want to be adventurous in the kitchen, but have no idea how to pair flavors? We solve that dilemma with the help of Shawn Kantor, chef, Blackberry Ridge Golf Club, Sartell. He shares his guidelines for creating new flavors. Pair ingredients that dont taste the same (for example, sweet and sour). Pair flavors that complement each other (for example, lamb, which is a heavier meat, pairs well with cool mint). Citrus is a good light flavor. Its very versatile. Try it with salmon. Think outside the box. No one says you cant pair fruity lingonberries with a pork loin roast. Contrast your textures and colors of ingredients. Its more pleasing to the palate. .
Hip-Hop Rumors: Janet & Mariah: The Scoop! Juelz's Cut Weeds! Eddie ...
Dunno if you've seen the reports of Bishop Lamont saying that he believes Joell Got dropped, but what I have heard is that's a misunderstanding. Sure, there are people that get dropped from Aftermath. But Joell Ortiiz isn't one of them. From what I heard, he was really a bit tired of waiting and getting acclaim, but seeing no forward movement. Joell formally requested a release from Aftermath. I heard Dr. Dre really didn't want want to let him go, because he likes Joell. From what I hear, they both had a man-to-man conversation and they agreed to go their separate ways. I think it was a case where Interscope wants Detox and Em's next CD before anything and anybody. That means another year MINIMUM for anybody else barring a 50 Cent-type rapper. Joell didn't want to wait, I am hearing.
Almond cakes are just right for a Lenten dessert
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place the almonds on a baking sheet and place in the oven to toast for 5 minutes. Meanwhile, in a large bowl combine the flour, sugar, cinnamon and orange zest. When the almonds are done, remove them from the oven and transfer to a food processor. Pulse until the almonds are coarsely ground. Add the almonds to the flour mixture. Add the water and mix to form a very stiff dough. Add additional flour or water to get a tacky, but not sticky, dough. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead several times. Form the dough into a log, then flatten to form a 6-by-18-inch rectangle. Use a knife to cut the rectangle into 1 1/2-by-6-inch bars. Carefully transfer the bars to the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 1/2 inch between them.
'Bonfire of the quangos' described as a 'damp squib'
He said that it would save £25M, it's just the Scotsman's shocking journalism that try's to omit this fact....that's £25M without any compulsory redundancies.....There will be more efficiency savings likely from the review of office space used by the various bodies being axed..... the money isn't going into tax cuts though, it's being put back into resourcing the remaining bodies properly.... .
Red velvet cake emits the perfect level of flavor and chocolate
The association between Valentine's Day and food has forever been chocolate: chocolate truffles, chocolate mousse, chocolate fondue, chocolate cake. It all makes so much sense. Chocolate, of course, is a natural mood enhancer, an aphrodisiac, a flavor of love; and there is certainly no doubt that chocolate is the primary comfort food of cold weather. It is silky, sweet and so satisfyingly rich that just a few bites of chocolate in its pure essence can assuage even the most stubborn sweet tooth. But there are times -- dare I say it -- when there can be a chocolate overload. Too much chocolate might sound like a good thing, but it may be more enjoyable to tease your palate with just a hint of this enchanting substance. Red velvet cake can do the job. This famed unidentifiable flavor of cake emits the perfect amount of cocoa.
